Which was a bigger waste of taxpayer dollars?

As school started this morning, one couldn't help but notice how different all 3 schools look when compared to last year. M.R. Reiter is a vacant shell of what was once a school. It was pretty depressing driving past there today. Second, at Grandview School there is a trailer park, and the basketball court where the kids used to line up in the morning is now a parking lot. Again...depressing and embarrassing. At the Intermediate/High School we were greeted with traffic congestion and the construction zone of a renovation that was supposedly on schedule up until the last board meeting.

So our question is which was a bigger waste of taxpayer dollars?

1. Hiring Pat Wandling as Communications Director at $25,000?
Wasn't P.W. going to promote all the good things happening and what a great job
her friends on the board are doing?

2. Hiring an "owners representative" at $110 per hour(estimated at $4,800 per month)

4.3. Appointment of Owner’s Representation for Construction Work

The Board approved a motion to AMEND this motion so that Mr. Rago has a second set of eyes on the electrical work. Also to appoint Angelo Rago as owner’s representation for the construction work specified by Vitetta. Compensation will be $110/hour (estimated at $4,800/month).

Motion to amend moved by Mr. Hellmann; seconded by Mr. Buckman; passed by a voice vote of 7 ayes; 2 nays; Members voting nay were Mr. Kemp and Mrs. Reithmeyer.

If there are other things the board has done to waste our money, or not spend it wisely, let us know. After all Bill Hellmann says we are in a "financial crisis".

As for us, we are going to stick with the P.W. hiring. Her hiring was wrong on so many levels as we have already discussed. What has she done so far? Not much. Let us know what you think.
