Nice turnout for the IS/HS play

It was great to see such a big turnout for the play on Fri and Sat night. The kids did an amazing job and they should be commended for their efforts. A big thank you to Mrs. Habel, and Mr. Jones for their leadership.

Obviously the performing arts are worth saving here in Morrisville. In case you didn't know, Mrs. Habel will apparently be teaching 4th grade next year, and may not be involved with the play. It is our understanding that Mr. Ferrara had assured the parents at the last parent advisory meeting that a plan would be in place to keep the play going, but the question still remains how, and as of now the performing arts is in jeapordy.

What are your thoughts on the play, and the status of the performing arts here in Morrisville?

A big congratulations goes out to the Morrisville Intermediate "Incredibles" who earned a Blue Ribbon at tonight's Reading Olympics, held at Bensalem H.S. The team, with a score of 65 (need 50 or more to win a blue ribbon), scored HIGHEST among 38 schools/teams. Awesome job by the kids, they made Morrisville proud. Thanks to Mrs. Young for leading the team this year.

Burger to run for state seat

This was posted yesterday in the potpourri section but it certanily deserves it's own post.

From the BCCT:
Burger to run for state seat

The former Morrisville councilwoman will challenge state Rep. John Galloway.

Former longtime Morrisville councilwoman Jane Burger announced Monday that she's seeking the Republican nomination for state representative.

Burger, 64, will run as a Republican in the May 18 primary election for the 140th Assembly District seat held by Democratic state Rep. John Galloway.

"Government needs checks and balances," Burger said. "Harrisburg must operate more efficiently to control spending. Our legislators must work together to address the major issues facing Pennsylvania."

After failing to retain her seat on council last year, Burger said residents began pushing her to run for state office.

"Several people told me they could use my voice in Harrisburg to represent this district," she said. "I've never run for a state position before and never thought I would - but I never thought I'd have 17 years on (Morrisville) council either, so anything is possible."

Advertisement Burger was appointed to the borough council in 1992 and served as president for six years. She lost her seat by just 20 votes in November to Democrat Fred Kerner.

"Now I have this opportunity and I welcome the chance to run for this seat and serve this river district to take the local voice to Harrisburg," she added. "Galloway is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket and I just think people need a choice and I am here to give them that."

Galloway said Monday that he's open to the competition.

"We live in a democracy and the great thing about democracy is it does provide us with choices," he said. "I look forward to exchanging ideas."

Burger, a Morrisville resident, recently retired from her job as a social work administrator with the New Jersey Department of Human Services.

The 140th District includes Bristol Borough, Tullytown, Falls, two districts in Bristol Township and one in Middletown.

How can someone who cant win a Council seat in their own town win a larger seat that encompasses a tiny bit of their town as well as a few surrounding towns that dont even know who she is.
Take a bit of advise Mrs. Burger, give up already.

Are there really republicans in Morrisville? Is this an early April fools editorial?

"Government needs checks and balances", says Burger, who just retired from a government job - in New Jersey. Hmmmmmm.

Bristol Borough, Tullytown, Falls, Bristol Township, Middletown residents of the the 140th district:

Beware of the Tea Bag hat - Morrisville 3rd Ward residents didn't re-elect Burger for a reason. A majority of people eventually get tired of stale career politicians with power and control issues who haven't delivered enough tangible benefits, progress, or economic revitalization.

Galloway or Burger - Wow, what a choice!
Any Libertarian candidate? Or Socialist Workers? Green Party?
