Dr. Elizabeth Yonson resigns as Morrisville Borough superintendent - Yardley News - Bucks Local News

From buckslocalnews.com

Dr. Elizabeth Yonson, longtime superintendent of the Morrisville School District, has stepped down from her post effective Wednesday, Sept. 22.

School board members voted 6-0 Wednesday night to accept Yonson’s resignation. Three board members were not at the meeting.

The board also voted to appoint Bill Ferrara, Morrisville High School principal, as acting superintendent. He will continue his duties as principal while overseeing the administration of the 900-student district.

A formal announcement to the press regarding Yonson's resignation has not yet been released, according the Pat Wandling, spokesperson for the school district.

Sept 2010 Newsletter

September 2010 Newsletter

Overall a not a very good job of proofreading the newsletter. Like it was mentioned before they got the wrong address for the PTO website. The correct address is MorrisvillePTO.blogspot.com

It's a minor detail, but please straighten out the crooked bulldog magnet.

And what's with no superintendent's report, or welcome back greeting. She is still on the payroll right? What's going on here?

In our opinion Pat Wandling is inept at being a communications director for this district. She has shown on many occasions that she is there to serve her "leadres"only. For that reason AYP(average yearly progress) has not been made in the job of communications director.

Shouldn't "up to $25k" P.W. be responsible enough to put out accurate info

After reading this article it proves our reservations about P.W., our now infamous "communications director". P.W. is quoted in the article saying that Bill Hellmann ran on the "Stay on Track" ticket. Perhaps she was too busy ghost writing Marlys' letters or putting out inaccurate phony news letters just before the November election. Its clear that P.W. is a political operative who is there to serve/and mastermind their continued presence on the board.

Morrisville School Board passes budget with no tax increase

Published: Tuesday, June 29, 2010

By Petra Chesner Schlatter, BucksLocalNews.com

The Morrisville School Board approved an $18.3-million final budget on Wednesday, June 23 without raising taxes for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

“This marks the third consecutive year Morrisville has not increased school taxes,” according to Pat Wandling, spokesperson for the Morrisville School District. “Furthermore, the school board decreased taxes in the previous two years.”

Wandling said the step is “unprecedented. Nobody’s ever done that.”

She noted that Elizabeth Yonson, Morrisville School District superintendent, has said that no educational programs were cut with the final budget.

Morrisville School Board President Bill Hellmann said, “We have stayed on track this year with the approval of this budget. I also am pleased to report the budget is nearly $85,000 less than the amount we anticipated spending this year.”

Hellmann, who ran on the “Stay on Track” ticket, is a certified public accountant. “He is always talking ‘efficiencies,’” Wandling noted.

The board president has issued an open letter to residents, which was read at the school board meeting. He said that no service or educational program has been adversely affected by the board’s “economic efficiencies.”

He said the dilemma most school districts in the region are facing is how to hold the line on taxes and pay for rising costs, contractual agreements and fluctuations in state funding, as well as state-mandated programs.

“We are not unusual in wanting to provide quality education and still keep taxes low,” Hellmann said. “Morrisville also deals with these same issues and so we work very hard to manage taxpayers’ money wisely. As always, this board directs its efforts toward making our small school district run as efficiently as possible.”

Morrisville School District has 1,037 students, including outside placement.

The annual cost per pupil is $12,052.89 for an elementary school student and $17,158.35 for a secondary school student.

In comparison, the cost is higher than in the Pennsbury School District where the per pupil expenditure is $10,695.94 for an elementary school student and $13,030.66 for a secondary school students.”

Wandling said the cost to educate a student in Morrisville is higher than elsewhere in the county “because of the smallness of it. The district has to do everything the state mandates and then they have to find the money for it.”

Currently at Grandview Elementary School work is being done on HVAC, electrical, conversion to gas, windows and doors and removal of oil tanks. That is costing more than $2 million.

Renovations were done last summer at the high school, including HVAC, windows and electrical work. That cost was more than $4 million.

The Morrisville School Board has no scheduled meetings in July.

Decisions loom for school budgets

Why is it that there is hardly ever a mention about Morrisville when it comes to articles like the one below? We have a $25k a year communications director, who clearly has connections at the BCCT. Why no mention of all the good that is going on under the Hellmann regime? Day after day we see no mention of Morrisville when it comes to area school matters. Thumbs down to P.W.....again!

from the BCCT:
Decisions loom for school budgets

By: JOAN HELLYER
Bucks County Courier Times
Most local school boards expect to seek special exceptions from the state to boost tax increases to help cover 2010-11 costs.

The squeeze is on for Bucks County school districts as they try to do more with less while framing their 2010-11 budgets.

The majority of Bucks County school districts will be able to raise property taxes 2.9 percent to cover increased expenses next school year without getting voter approval, according to state officials.

The allowable increase for 2010-11 is about 25 percent less than the 4.1 percent allowed by Act 1 - the state's 2006 property tax relief law - during the current school year.

School boards have until Jan. 28 to decide if taxes need to be raised above their districts' respective index. Many local districts are indicating they will need to go above the index by seeking exceptions from the state for certain expenses, including debt service, health care benefits and construction costs.

If those exceptions are approved, a school board would have the option to increase its district's respective index rate accordingly.

For instance, Bensalem officials are looking at whether exceptions can be requested for retirement contributions, special education expenses and revenue maintenance, said Jack Myers, the district's director of business operations.

The exceptions are needed, because, "as always, the district is faced with increased costs it does not control," Myers said. He estimates those uncontrollable costs are in the neighborhood of $7 million for next school year.

Myers is formulating how much those exceptions would add to the district's 2.9 percent index rate, and he'll give Bensalem's board its first look at the 2010-11 projections Wednesday night.

Other local boards, including Centennial and Neshaminy, will get their first looks at the 2010-11 estimated expenses beginning tonight.

Districts that do not have enough revenue to cover anticipate expenses, even with the additional tax revenue, have to ask voters' permission during the May primary to increase taxes further. No local districts have taken the referendum route since Act 1 took effect.

Council Rock doesn't plan to go down that path this year, either, district officials said last week. That district plans to rely on various exceptions to help cover 2010-11 expenses.

Bristol Township is expected to be one of the few area governing bodies to adopt a resolution, as it has in recent years, promising not to raise taxes above the district's 3.7 percent index rate allowed by the state. The board is set to vote on that resolution Jan. 19.

The index for each district is determined by averaging employment cost index data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics with the statewide average weekly wage.

The Bristol Borough School District, at 3.8 percent, has the highest index rate of local school systems. District Business Manager Joseph Roe told Bristol's school board last week that a tax increase might be needed to help cover debt service for the new Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary/Middle School.

Roe said he's looking for ways to keep any possible tax increase to a minimum.

Question for the masses...

Is it legal, or at the very least unethical for a judge of elections, who also happens to be on the school board to be distributing flyers(on school grounds) for candidates they support? And don't all political flyers have to have the "paid for" notice on them?

What is the big deal about someone not owning a home, and running for school board? Does this make them any less qualified? For some reason the stay on trackers have an issue with people that rent their homes/apartments. These folks do pay their taxes...it's called rent, and the taxes are built into the rent. Many of the stay on trackers have rental properties(funny thing is many of the stay on track signs are on rental properties) they should know this!

We mentioned in a post awhile back about how can Mr. Hellmann say the districts payroll is too high and he wants to put $$ into the buildings, but a back in June the board majority hired Pat Wandling as a "communications director"(political operative), and raised the payroll in a pathetic attempt to make himself and other stay on trackers look like they are doing a good job. Then come Sept. Mr. Hellman was vehemently opposed to the hiring of a teachers aide for the same amount of $25K. Mr Hellmann your credibility is currently zero, along with the rest of your cohorts.
Here is the link:Mr. Hellmann help us understand

It is imperative that everyone that is registered to vote does so on November 3. Morrisville can do better than the position the stay on trackers have left us with. Say no the ways of Mr. Hellman and his cronys that are up for election(Worob,Buckman,Stout,Dewilde), for they are just puppets of Mr. Hellmann. And say yes to a new Morrisville. A Morrisville that has pride, and a Morrisville that is known for the right reasons, and a Morrisville that has a future!

Added 10/29---Could someone confirm or deny if Ron Stout and Marlys Mihok made a rent payment to a landlord within the last month. We are not saying they are not paying their rent, we just would like confirmation if they are renters. If they are renters, using stay on track thinking, Marlys should step down from the board, and Ron Stout should drop out of the race since this renter thing is such a hot button for them. We could care less if you own a home, rent an apartment/house. We know your pay your taxes. And the landlords on the board should know this also. Enough with the double standards guys. It's getting old

Mr. Hellmann help us understand...

At the most recent school board meeting, school board president Bill Hellmann was pleading his case as to why the district should not replace a para-professional. He said the districts' payroll was too high and the money would be better spent if it was put into the buildings, such as repaving the parking lots at Grandview and the IS/HS. Help us understand one thing Mr. Hellmann, if the districts payroll is too high, why would you hire a $25k a year communications director? Too us it appears that the hiring of P.W. was done to try to put a positive spin on the board majority actions prior to the November election. So help us understand your thinking...it is OK that you are for trying to preserve your board majority by hiring a communications director at $25k, but you are against the same amount of money going to someone that will work directly with the students to improve their education? Help us understand your thinking Mr. Hellmann.

Thoughts and observations from last nights meeting...

Either it's too early in the morning or something strange is happening. This is the second month in a row that there is no mention of a school board meeting online in the BCCT . What's going on here? If by some chance it makes it in later in the morning, could someone please post it in the comment section. Isn't it P.W.'s job to get information out to the public? Or does she just do puff pieces? What a waste of $$ her hiring was!

What are your thoughts and observations from the meeting last night? Did the stay on trackers behave?? Did they address any of the parents concerns regarding the traffic and renovation issues? Speaking of renovations, we received our propaganda packet of "stay in track" fliers. They are claiming that "much needed renovations left undone by past boards"(some of them sat on these boards )"are well underway and will be completed in September at both the Middle/Senior High School and Grandview Elementary School." First off isn't it called the Intermediate/High School? These people changed the name of the school and now they can't even call it by its proper name? And there is no way possible renovations will be complete in Sept. Grandview has not even started. Lies, Lies, Lies.

New school works on arrival, dismissal process

Unfortunately, for us, its not our school and its host of issues they are talking about. Thumbs up to the folks in Bristol for recognizing there is a problem, and trying to make the situation better for everybody. Once again the board majority has squandered an opprotunity. Instead of reaching out to parents, there was the typical "stay on track " silence. Listen guys, all we are asking is that you listen attentively to our concerns and do something to improve the situation. Whether it is our concerns about the traffic, or renovations, we have heard nothing from you, or your communications director. Are you guys that far out of touch, or do you just not care?

New school works on arrival, dismissal process

Revisions will include additional crossing guards and adjustments to a traffic light's timing at a key intersection.
Extra crossing guards will be on duty this morning as students arrive for class at the new Warren Snyder-John Girotti Elementary/Middle School, borough and district officials said Wednesday.
The additional guards are needed to help students safely get across the busy intersection at Beaver and Pond streets near the school, Bristol Mayor Joseph A. Saxton said Wednesday after a meeting between borough and district representatives.
The officials met in borough hall after spending the first few days of the new school year observing traffic patterns during arrival and dismissal times from the $35 million school that serves more than 900 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade.
"We knew it wasn't going to go off perfectly," police Chief Arnold Porter said. "But we've been working on it. Parents have to understand that their kids are safe."
Officials have asked parents who drive their children to school to park in the Grundy skating rink on the other side of Beaver Street and then make sure the kids get across the street with the help of a crossing guard to get to school.
However, many parents are parking on private properties owned by businesses on Pond Street across from the school, officials said.
The additional crossing guards will help move the foot traffic more quickly across Pond Street while borough and district officials look for ways to improve the drop off and pick up plan.

Officials also will try to have a traffic light at the intersection modified to allow more time for motorists to turn left onto Pond Street from Beaver Street during dismissal time, Saxton said.
Right now, the light is programmed to allow traffic to move in that direction for 10 to 12 seconds at a time. That's causing traffic leaving the skating rink to back up, the mayor said.
Authorities report there has been some tension between parents and crossing guards when arrival and dismissal procedures are not followed. However, there have been no arrests.
Snyder-Girotti Principal Rosemary Parmigiani acknowledges a lot of the problems could have been avoided if the old district elementary school behind the new building was already demolished.
But that likely will not happen until next summer, officials said.
"We've informed parents that we all have to be flexible, just like with any growing pains," the principal said.
Want to know more?
Call 215-781-1020 or go to www.bbsd.org and click onto the link "Attention Parents of Snyder-Girotti Students New." It provides information about arrival and dismissal procedures at the new school.

Where the fingers should be pointed...

As parents we are all concerned about the safety and well being of our children. This goes without saying. The current situation at both of our schools has yet to be addressed by this board. And that is where the blame should lie. It is not the administrations fault that this is happening. The administration is not to blame for the boards willy nilly approach to running a district. Unfortunately the board will most likely spin in so it looks like it was the administration's problem. The stay on trackers on the board need a lesson on taking responsibility for their actions/inactions.
With P.W. as the communications czar surely we should have seen a press release easing parents concerns after a nightmare of a first week. Or even a letter to parents at least recognizing the problem.Have we seen anything? Nope. Don't expect to either. Her job is also to suppress the negative actions/inactions of the Morrisville School Board, not just promote the positive. And where is Marly's Mihok during all of this. She calls herself a "child safety advocate", but where is she when such a person is needed. Marlys you have had a plan in the past for children walking in the streets(albeit a strange, twisted plan), where is your plan for a real problem(one that you helped create)?

Potpourri for the week of 9/13-9/19

The first week of school brought us a dangerous traffic situation at both schools and construction apparently taking place during school hours. As parents, it's not asking much to address these issues. The traffic situation needs to be addressed. Whether it is staggered starting times, different drop off points for certain grades, police presence for directing traffic both on Palmer St., and Grandview Ave. And a presence of aides and administration ensuring an orderly drop off/pick up. Please do something.

On the renovation front, parents were promised at the last board meeting that construction would not take place during school hours. Yet on the first day, a class had to be moved so that new windows could be installed. Unacceptable. To the board and administration, please don't let this happen again.

To the board majority...aren't you tired of damage control? Since the explosion at M.R. Reiter, that's all you guys have been doing. You created the current mess by voting to cram kids in trailers and a high school not designed for younger students. That is a fact, that not even P.W. can spin in a positive light. Last we heard she was still looking for the LGI room. Some of you(Hellmann, Mihok, Radosti) even voted against hiring a 4th kindergarten teacher. Luckily Bill Farrell saw the light, and Jack Buckman, up for reelection , made a rare vote against his "stay on track" friends. Bill Hellmann even said "we are not obligated to provide Kindergarten" Is this your next area of savings Mr. Hellmann? Keep this in mind folks...the "stay on track" team was voted into office because the town did not want a new school. Fine.. Now that the new school is dead, and there are no plans by anyone to resurrect this venture, they(stay on track) have no plan and are only concerned with one thing...lowering taxes. This venture has created the mess we are all dealing with day in and day out. "Staying on track" is not in Morrisville's best interest.

Killing the messenger.....

Our apologies for not getting this out sooner this a.m. The following is an opinion from today's BCCT. The writer is obviously a P.W. supporter. I'm sure P.W. is a nice lady, however her appointment is pure cronyism. She was hired to put a positive spin on what the "stay on track" folks have been doing. The only politics at play here are coming from the board majority that hired her. The resumes were only received a day before they hired her, and no one was interviewed for the job. Someone even volunteered to do it for free! P.W. is not going to tell the truth about the Morrisville schools. She will only put a spin on the news to make Hellmann and Co. look like shining stars. Something which everyone knows they are not.

Killing the messenger
By: GUY PETROZIELLO
Bucks County Courier Times
I have known Pat Wandling for many years, as a reporter for the Courier Times, radio talk show host, and former public information specialist for Bucks County and later Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick. When the detractors criticize her recent appointment as communications director for the Morrisville School District, they mention she worked for the former commissioner and former congressman as a bad thing. Have they gone mad?

What better reference can you have than someone who knows you for years and employed you?

I know Pat to be a person of integrity and insight. She is highly qualified and a real professional in her field, so I say the angry screams about her appointment are most likely coming from a not-so-hidden political agenda. The communications director or PR director in a school district works with the media and is a good news person, right? So what are the politicians, or whoever they are, afraid of? A communications director?

Are they worried the good news about Morrisville might get out? Are they worried Pat might do a good job for the school district? It seems to me, an outsider, that politics has reared its ugly head and they are trying to "kill" the messenger who is ready to tell the true story about the Morrisville schools.

Reminder: Special board meeting 7/29

Just wanted to post a reminder of the special board meeting that will take place on 7/29. I'm sure they will slip in the closing of M.R. Reiter in there somehow. Also on the "agenda" is the award of bids for the Grandview school window replacements, discussion of the Capitol View School Lease agreement, and "such other matters as may properly come before the Board."(Reiter).

Does anyone have any info on the status of the Capitol View lease. Could they want to take this over as a replacement for Reiter?

Will P.W. make an apperance at the meeting?

Wasted Opportunity

From todays BCCT:

Wasted opportunity
By: GUY PETROZIELLO
Bucks County Courier Times
Regarding the Morrisville School Board's June 24 vote to hire a part-time communications director: The board majority fumbled a great opportunity. The board voted 6-2 to hand the job to Patricia Wandling for $25,000. Morrisville resident Melissa Danbury, who has a child in the schools and is active in the PTO, volunteered to do the job for free for six months.

The hiring "process" was a farce. The position was never posted until that evening, resumes arrived the day before and interviews were never conducted. Board members didn't have a full job description prior to voting. How could they have made an informed decision?

Wandling is a former employee of school district solicitor Michael Fitzpatrick. She hosts the WBCB radio program "Speak Your Piece," and had board President Bill Hellmann on her program the day before the May 19 primary election. Her hiring is classic cronyism.

Hellmann often mentions the financial crisis Morrisville is facing and has not replaced departing teacher aides. Board member Marlys Mihok called faculty members' stipends for positions outside their classroom responsibilities "obscene" and said they should volunteer their time. If Morrisville is in such bad financial shape and the board wants volunteers to step up, why wouldn't the board consider using a volunteer for the job on a trial basis before voting to pay someone $25,000?

"The PW File"

Several of the comments below were posted as comments under other headings, but a Hellmann crony like Pat Wandling deserves her own post. Pat Wandling's new position should be called "campaign manager", "spin doctor" "mouthpiece" , don't let the board fool you, their only interest is to "Stay on Track".

By the way, does anyone know when Patricia's first day on the job is?

From 12/15/2008 BCCT.

Middletown Supervisor Kathy Heuer was first appointed at an illegal meeting. Now we know. Ms. Heuer’s initial appointment to the township board of supervisors occurred at a “secret” meeting held 15 minutes before the public meeting, according to published reports.

As a longtime resident of this community and political observer, nothing should surprise me, including the lack of outrage in Middletown. But I am surprised and disappointed. I believe once it was revealed publicly that Ms. Heuer’s appointment to the seat vacated by former Supervisor Lisa Pflaumer was not legal she should have immediately stepped down.

Instead, Ms. Heuer, Supervisor Heuer, chose to fight in court — and spend our tax dollars to defend her action and prove her point.

And what did she prove in court? She proved that her appointment involved violations of the state’s Sunshine, or Open Meetings Law. She proved that the meeting where she was appointed was invalid and everything that occurred at the meeting was invalidated by the court. She also proved that a judge would remove her from office when she refused to step down.

There are two questions our new supervisor needs to answer: Why did she vote to hire a lawyer at our expense to defend an indefensible meeting? And, will she agree to reimburse us for these shenanigans?

This "longtime resident of this community and political observer" is actually a republican political hack who hosts a slanted radio show on a station owned by Pasquale Deon that only about six people listen to. She was also Mike Fitzpatrick's campaign manager or treasurer, which makes it no surprise that she is trying to defend the main sleaze-artist that brought all of this expense to the people in his desperate attempt to be named Middletown solicitor. It is good to see, however, that the corrupt Middletown republicans still have this 74-year-old hack spewing lies and swinging for them - they haven't been able to recruit fresh talent for decades. Pat Wandling you are a fraud, and nobody believes your lies.

Disenchanted Democrat - Will she pay us back?
(12/15/2008 )
Probably not but we can all hope for a bailout. The Democrats brought this upon themselves and now we are all paying for it. Why is it that there is so much turmoil in Middletown? I never remember such mud slinging when the Republicans ran things.

Gabriel - What???
(12/15/2008 )
DD, I agree with you 100% that the democrats brought this upon themselves, but if you can't recall turmoil under GOP control, your memory needs a little upgrade. How about the time they forced out a successful business manager (1 of 2 they forced out), or expanded the number of citizens on the country club committee and then appointed a powerful member of the GOP who is involved in commercial property development? There's more, but that's just what's off the top of my head.
Excuse my being repetitive from prior posts but what the democrats did was arrogant and stupid, but it's NO DIFFERENT than what happened under GOP control. When people like Ms. Wandling who, assuming the above anonymous post is accurate, pose as non partisan individuals and act amazed at the behavior of the other party, it is so hypocritical. Let's remember that in the end, the court decision was to redo the meeting which is what the democrats were going to do until the GOP's filed an injunction. Same decision with no benefit to the taxpayers, but apparently it's given the GOP some much desired ammo at our expense.

In the end, neither party has served the public in this matter. It's political gamesmanship at its worst. If anyone out there really believes one party is more guilty of pulling this crap than the other, you've got blinders on.

Yes, another posting of Pat Wandling, girl reporter and host of the "Speak your republican piece". Ready, let me first ask all of you a question. When you go back to work this week ask you employer if it would be ok if you left the office in the middle of the day to go and work another job for an hour. Make sure you add into it that you want to be paid for the time you are not in the office and ,yes you'll be paid by the other employer as well . What do you think your current employer would say to you ? Well, seems that old Bob White at the Bucks County Re-developement authority has no problems with allowing Pat to take off in the middle of the afternoon to work her speel at WBCB. Now I'm kind of slow so maybe some of you can answer this question for me as well. The funding for the Bucks County Re-delvelopemnt authority, are they funded with tax-payer dollars ? If it is how and why do they allow a employee to work for the BCRDA and WBCB at the same time ? Also, ido you, as a tax payer, do you se something wrong with this picture ? I mean Pat is serving two masters , BCRDA and WBCB , ( maybe its three masters when you include the republican party ), and as the bible states, serve two masters and you 'll end up hating one and loving the other. Look, if I am wrong I do hope some of you will bring me up to speed in regards to this situation.

Well well well, the other day I tuned in to WBCB and a caller stated on the air that Pat Wandlings' employment/appointments can be attributed to her party affiliation ! Pat was taken aback, she suttered for a moment. Pat then replied " No, thats not true, I'm an independent thinker". Well Pat, nobody that has ever heard you would ever say you are an independent thinker. No my dear, you are nothing more then a political parrot for the republican party . Now there is nothing wrong with being a political parrot, hell, the dems have their fair share. What was hilarious was how you stated that you are a "independent thinker"! What a hoot! You, independent, please stop I'm laughing so hard it hurts ! Each and everyday all you do is spin whatever Congressman Murphy is qouted in the press and if not the congressman you go after Diane Marseglia or some other democrat. You use the theme of your show like its a chance for people to vent their fustrations on what is going on in their community to campaign retoric for any republican that is running for that office. In my opinion, you do a dis-service by being the host and at the same time being the republican parrot. Hell, they should have you perched in a cage repeating, "Repubican want a vote".

Now I ask all of you to tune in to SPEAK YOUR PIECE on WBCB 1490 AM and tell me if you remotely think that Pat Wandling is either an"independent thinker" or just another political parrot.

Title: WBCBs Pat Wandling, doing the old flip-flop
Post by: thevoice on February 26, 2008, 11:56:31 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listening to "Speak your republican piece" I heard old Pat Wandling do the old flip-flop . During the last congressional race old Pat came to me and stated that they, Mike Fitzpatrick campaign, was going to go after Patrick Murphy on his military record. I was privy to a copy of congressman Murphys' military record and responded back to her that that was a dumb idea. Furthermore, I explained , in detail , each and every aspect of the congessmans' record to her but she failed to listen, or whoever the genius was that came up with that idea. It was dumb and it ended up costing Mike votes from many vets. Mike should of had better sense then to stoop to such a low level and in particular one that made no sense and was a losing proposition all the way around. On the air, Ms. Wandling made light of congressman Murpys military experience and that just because he, Murphy ,was in the military that gives him or ANYONE the experience to run for office. Now Pat Wandling was the one who articulated on the air that military experience was not a big deal. Her words not mine. Pat had to take this position due to the fact that Mike Fitzpatrcik never served.

Well, here comes old Pat now getting ready to do the old flip-flop since the republicans now have a potential canidate that has a military record and sadly lost a son in Iraq. Listen to Pat now, (if you can stay awake) now Pat is crowing a different tune. Yes, Pat is now marching to a different drummer when it comes to military experience.

So step away from the pool as Pat Wandling gets ready to do another belly flop.

Check out this in particular:

I can only imagine what Mike Fitzpatrick was thinking when he read that front-page story about (finally) the Democrats’ solution for Iraq. I think he may have said, “Hey, that sounds familiar.”

Corruption at its finest

Last night the board voted 6-2 to approve and hire a "communications director". Their pick.....Patricia Wandling. Yes that Patricia Wandling. The same person that said Morrisville has nothing to offer. The same person who rarely has anything positive to say about our town. Her pay, $25,000. Here is where the corruption comes into play. Was this position ever posted anywhere? NO. The board was originally going to just approve the job description, but Mr. Fitzpatrick announced at the beginning of the meeting that there was an addition to the agenda and it was to hire Pat Wandling for $25,000. How can you hire someone if their job description has not even been approved? But here's the most corrupt part of it all...Melissa Danbury, during public session volunteered her services free of charge for six months, and after that time if funds were available, she would be willing to stay on the job on a part-time basis. What did the board do? They chose Patricia Wandling. And finally Patricia Wandling used to work for Mr. Fitzpatrick. This whole communications director has corruption written all over it. Great Job guys, your ways of cronyism, backroom deals, and unethical behavior will now be brought to light for all of Morrisville to see, and wherever Sharon Hughes plays her tapes of the board meetings. As board members you should all be ashamed of yourselves for the following reasons:

1: For being Bill Hellmann's lap dogs.
2. For not using common sense when voting on this "communications director" position
3. For allowing Sharon Hughes to go off on "non school board" issues, while reprimanding Mrs. Haug for actually speaking about agenda items.

Below is a recap of the board meeting from the BCCT.

Board hires part-time communications director

One board member voted no because she said the directors just received resumes and the recommended person used to work for the solicitor.

After a parent volunteered to temporarily do the job for free, the Morrisville school board Wednesday night approved 6-2 to hire Patricia Wandling as the district's part-time communications director for $25,000.

Board members Robin Reithmeyer and Joseph Kemp voted no to the hire and Gloria Heater wasn't present for the vote.

Board members Brenda Worob and William Farrell both voted in favor of the motion because they said Morrisville needs a way and place to advertise its positive communication.

"(This position) is very positive to have in the district for the community," said Worob. "People who aren't involved in the district don't know what's going on. (This can) bring the community together."

PTO member Melissa Danbury agreed, which is why she volunteered to do the job for free for six months.

A few residents and board members conceded that the district needs someone to help getting the word out to the community about what's happening in Morrisville. But others said the district shouldn't spend the money right now and accused the board of using the spot to further their own political agenda.

One community member suggested finding a volunteer, faculty member, or journalism class to write press releases.

After Reithmeyer expressed concern that the job description didn't specify a supervisor, Superintendent Elizabeth Yonson suggested adding that she would oversee the position.

Reithmeyer said she voted against the motion because the district only received resumes Tuesday, no one had a chance to interview anyone, and Wandling is a former employee of district solicitor Michael Fitzpatrick.
